What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling martial art based on leverage, timing and technique rather than size or strength. It teaches you how to control a situation on your feet and on the ground, and it is widely regarded as the most effective form of self-defense for a smaller person against a larger opponent. It is also one of the most complete forms of physical and mental training you can do.

Do I need any experience to start?

No. The majority of our students walk in with zero martial arts background. Beginners are guided step by step, paired with experienced training partners and never thrown into anything they are not ready for. Every class has a structured warm-up, technique instruction and supervised practice.

Do I need to be in shape before my first class?

No. You get in shape by training, not before training. Classes are built so that you work at your own pace, and our instructors adjust the intensity for each student.

What should I wear and bring to my first class?

For your free trial, bring athletic clothing without zippers or pockets (t-shirt and shorts or leggings), a water bottle and flip-flops for off the mat. We will lend you a gi if the class requires one. Please train with short nails and no jewelry.

What programs do you offer?

Adults Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi and no-gi), Adults Muay Thai, private instruction, and our Kids Program divided by age: Mini Champions (3-5), Little Champions (6-8) and Junior Champions (9-13).

How are the kids classes organized?

Children are never mixed into one large class. Each age bracket has its own curriculum, pace and language, focused on coordination and play for the youngest, and on technique, self-defense, anti-bullying, confidence and respect as they grow.

How often should I train?

Two to three classes per week is the sweet spot for steady progress. Students preparing for competition usually train more, and our instructors will help you build a schedule that fits your life.

Safety is a standard, not a preference. Classes are supervised at all times, live training is matched by size and experience, and our culture is built on respect. No egos and no intimidation.

Yes. Private instruction is available for individuals, couples and small groups, for beginners who want a head start as well as advanced students and competitors refining their game.

Women train in all of our regular adult classes and are a strong part of our community. Women's self-defense focused private sessions and small group sessions can be arranged on request.

Memberships are monthly and give you access to the classes included in your program. We will walk you through the options in person after your trial so you choose the one that matches your goals and schedule.

Our headquarters is at 2750 Coral Way, Suite 204, Miami, FL 33145, in Coral Gables. A second academy in Pinecrest is opening soon with its own dedicated site.
